Nike | Giannis Antetokounmpo
A hoop from the Gods.
In 2019, to celebrate Giannis Antetokounmpo being named MVP we put a basketball hoop on the top of Mt Olympus. Yep, that Mt Olympus – the home of the Greek Gods and highest point in Greece.

The unconventional idea was inspired by Giannis’ unconventional journey to the top. From growing up in one of Athen’s poorest suberbs and sharing a pair of basketball shoes with his brother, to becoming one of the best players in the NBA and having his own signature Nike shoe (the first ever European player to get one).
We wanted to mark this moment in way that not only celebrated Giannis’ acheivements, but also, to inspire kids around the world. Reminding them that no matter where you start, you can reach anywhere you can dream of.

We worked with UNESCO and created a special hoop so that we didn’t have to drill into the mountain or damage it in any way – no sacred mountains were harmed in the making of this campaign.

The campaign created a flood of PR and conversation around the world with; 2180 stories, over 1000 social media posts, and an estimated 900M media impressions.
After the campaign was over, we brought the hoop to Athens and placed in Giannis’ home court. A permanent piece of inspiration for all.
